H.R. No. 1837


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Through his skillful leadership and tireless efforts as director of the Christian Alliance for Humanitarian Aid, Inc., in Pearland, Jess Stokely has made numerous contributions to his community; and WHEREAS, Mr. Stokely is director of this four-year-old nonprofit organization which serves the needs of people throughout the world, bringing relief to residents as far away as Africa and Latin America; notably, after the recent tornado disasters in Oklahoma, its volunteers sent 28 truckloads of relief supplies to storm victims; and WHEREAS, Contributing in many ways to easing suffering in the local community, the Christian Alliance held the "Denver Harbor Community Festival" last summer to provide free medical services and food, and this past December volunteers distributed food to the less fortunate in Jacinto City; most recently, on May 17, 2003, the group held a health festival in the Clinic San Jose and gave free eye exams and tests for diabetes and other diseases; and WHEREAS, The important work of this worthwhile organization will continue as the Christian Alliance plans to erect a new medical clinic to serve numerous communities, including Galena Park, Jacinto City, and the Port of Houston area; and WHEREAS, Mr. Stokely is making a lasting contribution to his community and this state through his leadership of the Christian Alliance, and he is most deserving of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Jess Stokely for his many contributions to the community as director of the Christian Alliance for Humanitarian Aid, Inc., and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Stokely as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
