H.R. No. 1848


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mountain View High School's Alex Ramos captured bronze medals in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter events at the 2003 UIL State Track and Field Championships in Austin, and he is to be congratulated for this fine showing; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ramos has enjoyed an outstanding high school career, overcoming a variety of injuries and ailments during his senior year to achieve great success; he earned silver at the 2002 State Cross-Country Championship and finished second in the mile and 2-mile events at the regional championships in San Angelo; and WHEREAS, This talented distance runner holds school records in cross-country and the mile and 2-mile events, and shares the record for the 800-meter distance; his efforts have earned him recognition as the El Paso Times' 2003 Boys' Track and Field Most Valuable Performer; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ramos has demonstrated dedication and commitment to excellence that are rare in someone so young, and he will surely continue to excel as he pursues his athletic and academic dreams as a student at Texas A&M--Corpus Christi; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Alex Ramos on his track and field accomplishments and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Ramos as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
