H.R. No. 1854



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Coach Dave McKinney of El Paso's J. M. Hanks High 
School has been named 2003 El Paso Times Boys' Track and Field Coach 
of the Year, a prestigious accolade that is indeed well deserved; 
and
	WHEREAS, Under Coach McKinney's expert direction, the 
Knights won the 2003 District 1-5A track and field title, marking 
the team's record-setting third consecutive district championship; 
and
	WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with Hanks, Coach McKinney has 
worked diligently to bring out the best in his charges, emphasizing 
the importance of each event and taking advantage of his squad's 
impressive depth; and
	WHEREAS, The dedication to excellence and competitive spirit 
of this fine coach are reflected in the performances of his 
student-athletes; he has built his program into one of the region's 
finest, and it is appropriate that he receive special recognition; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Dave McKinney on his selection as 
2003 Boys' Track and Field Coach of the Year by the El Paso Times and 
that he be extended sincere best wishes for continued success; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Coach McKinney as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
