R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives and the "Live Music Capital of the World" are pleased to welcome Dallas favorites the MalFunktions to Austin's famed Continental Club on Sunday, June 1, 2003, at 8 p.m.; and WHEREAS, Fresh from their standing-room-only gig in the Greenville Avenue Dairy Queen parking lot, this popular party band is living proof that you're never too old to rock--as long as you keep your prescriptions current; and WHEREAS, Featuring the talents of State Representative Bill "The Thrill" Keffer, H. Len "Muskrat" Musgrove, Esq., Dwight "Don't Call Me Dwight" Fletcher, Craig "Mad Dog" Milacek, Charles "Chucky" Haggard, and K. "Awesome" Lawson Pedigo, Esq., the MalFunktions are a musical genre unto themselves; and WHEREAS, Playing a mix of contemporary favorites and hits from yesteryear, as well as original tunes such as "When the Gavel Comes Down," "That Dog Won't Hunt," "Record Vote," "Table This," and "Ardmore Blues," the MalFunktions have performed in front of upwards of 15 people; and WHEREAS, These dedicated musicians dream of someday making it big in the music biz, or at least of having a cult following of sycophantic groupies, but until that time they're content to exist in relative anonymity; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the Honorable Bill Keffer and the members of the MalFunktions for sharing their musical stylings with the denizens of the city of Austin and offer best wishes to them for a memorable show at the Continental Club; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the MalFunktions as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
