R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ruby Nell Berry served three terms as the county treasurer of Ward County, and it is a pleasure to recognize her many years of dedicated public service; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, Ms. Berry was born in Callahan County and graduated from high school in Monahans in 1951 in the top 10 percent of her class; she moved to San Diego, only to return to Wickett and Monahans in 1959; and WHEREAS, Ms. Berry retired as county treasurer on April 30, 2002, after being elected for three terms; this outstanding Texan was employed with the office of county attorney Ed Keys for nearly three decades before she ran for election as treasurer; and WHEREAS, Also an avid volunteer, she has given generously of her time and talents to the 4-H Club, for which she served as an adult leader for 35 years and held county and district offices; and WHEREAS, In both her personal and professional endeavors, Nell Berry has demonstrated a tremendous commitment to serving the people of Ward County, and her contributions to her community truly deserve special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend Ruby Nell Berry on her outstanding service as county treasurer of Ward County and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Berry as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
