H.R. No. 1873


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Honorable Delmon Hodges has long been one of Fort Stockton's most prominent citizens, and his contributions to his community, as both a businessman and a county official, have greatly contributed to the quality of life enjoyed by those Texans who call Pecos County home; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hodges is a proud alumnus of Sul Ross College who today serves his alma mater as a member of the board of trustees of the Wesley Foundation of Sul Ross State University; his career as a successful oil and gas operator has spanned more than four decades, during which time he has also been a director of the First National Bank of Fort Stockton, and in 2002 this "Outstanding Citizen of Fort Stockton" was honored by the American Association of Professional Landmen with its Citizenship Award for his exceptional service to the Trans-Pecos area; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Hodges has distinguished himself as a public official of immense dedication and integrity, having served the citizens of Pecos County as county judge, county clerk, and deputy tax assessor; he is a devoted member of the community of faith at First Methodist Church and, in addition, has served in a leadership capacity with such organizations as the Jaycees, the Lions Club, the United Way, the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce, and the Trans-Pecos Soil Conservation District; and WHEREAS, Together with his cherished wife, the former Vida Watson, he has created a loving and supportive home for the couple's four children, and in recent years he has taken great delight in the addition of 11 grandchildren to the Hodges family; as a businessman and public servant, Mr. Hodges has helped to make the Pecos County community a better place in which to work and live, and his efforts are indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby commend the Honorable Delmon Hodges for his exemplary service to Pecos County and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hodges as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
