R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lana M. Porter has become the first female African
American chief deputy of the Dallas County Sheriff's Department;
and
WHEREAS, Leading the Detention Technical Services Bureau,
Chief Deputy Porter is responsible for the Dallas County Jail's
Intake, Release, and Support Services divisions, and her
quarter-century of law enforcement experience makes her an
outstanding candidate to oversee these vital operations of one of
the largest county jails in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Chief Deputy Porter has dedicated her life to
protecting the citizens of Dallas County, and she is most deserving
of legislative recognition for her myriad contributions to the
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Chief Deputy Lana M. Porter on her
promotion and extend to her sincere best wishes for future success
and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Chief Deputy Porter as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
