H.R. No. 1929
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Filomeno Escobar has served his nation with pride
and distinction for more than 25 years and his exemplary record of
military service is indeed deserving of special legislative
recognition; and
WHEREAS, Born August 11, 1925, in Starr County, Mr. Escobar
entered the United States Navy in 1943 and retired from military
service in September 1969; he served in World War II, the Korean
War, and the Vietnam War aboard several carriers, including the USS
Yorktown, USS Oriskany, and the USS Enterprise; and
WHEREAS, Citizens of the United States owe an incalculable
debt to the nation's military personnel, who have served valiantly
throughout this country's history and whose efforts and sacrifice
have secured the liberties of countless Americans over many
generations; Filomeno Escobar exemplifies the traits of courage,
honor, integrity, and discipline that are the highest ideals of our
nation's armed forces, and he has earned the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and the gratitude of his fellow Texans; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Filomeno Escobar for his military service
and his contribution to the freedom and democracy of our great
nation; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Escobar as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
