R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Highland Park High School boys' golf team 
captured the 2003 Class 4A State Golf Championship, winning this 
annual event for the fifth consecutive year; and
	WHEREAS, Under the capable guidance of head coach Jeff Loyd, 
the team posted a cumulative opening-round score of 278 and 
followed that up with a second-round score of 281 to win the 
tournament by four strokes over rival Palestine High School; and
	WHEREAS, Demonstrating character, consistency, and 
sportsmanship throughout the tournament, team members Scott 
Barton, Garrett Merrell, Paul Haley, Mike Lester, and Charlie 
Holland are a source of great pride to the faculty, staff, and 
students of Highland Park High School; and
	WHEREAS, Despite the team's relative inexperience, this 
dedicated group of student-athletes remained focused on the goal of 
winning the coveted state title, and it is a pleasure to honor these 
noteworthy individuals on this outstanding achievement; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Jeff Loyd and the members of 
the Highland Park High School boys' golf team on winning the 2003 
Class 4A State Championship and extend to them best wishes for 
continued success in their future endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
