R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Santa Gertrudis Independent School District 
indeed merits special legislative recognition for its 
long-standing commitment to excellence in education; and
	WHEREAS, Awarded "recognized" status by the Texas Education 
Agency for the past two years, the school district has implemented 
innovative programs for students, including Pride Computers, a 
school-based business in which students build and maintain all 
district computers and network systems and conduct technology 
training, and the Advanced Studies program, in which students may 
graduate with an associate's degree in applied computer sciences, 
along with their high school diploma; and
	WHEREAS, The Santa Gertrudis ISD has made invaluable 
contributions to Kleberg County, and its record of success can be 
attributed in large part to the substantial support of the 
community it serves; formally established in 1917 as one of three 
schools associated with the King Ranch of South Texas, Santa 
Gertrudis is the only remaining school facility associated with 
this legendary property; and
	WHEREAS, The residents of Kleberg County continue to reap the 
benefits of the fine education offered by the Santa Gertrudis ISD, 
and it is truly a privilege to pay tribute to this noteworthy 
district and its many devoted educators, administrators, students, 
and staff; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend all those associated with the Santa 
Gertrudis Independent School District for their dedication to the 
provision of an outstanding education; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the Santa Gertrudis ISD as an expression of high regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
