R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The people of South Texas have a long and proud
tradition of service in the armed forces of the United States, and
Private Dayna Granados is one of many from the Rio Grande Valley who
are continuing this history of patriotic endeavor; and
WHEREAS, Private Granados, 19, joined the army after
graduating from Edcouch-Elsa High School; the daughter of Mary
Granados and stepdaughter of Miguel Rangel, she is stationed at
Fort Hood with the Second Division; and
WHEREAS, On April 10, 2003, citizens of the Delta area
gathered at the city hall in Elsa to pay tribute to Private Granados
and other courageous service members from the surrounding
communities; and
WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Peña has justly recognized
Private Granados in the Texas House of Representatives, for
citizens across the country owe this resolute American and her
fellow servicemen and servicewomen an immeasurable debt of
gratitude for the burdens and sacrifice they have assumed, and for
their unwavering dedication to those rights and ideals that have
made this nation, for so many around the world, the promised land;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Private Dayna Granados for her service in
the United States Army and extend to her profound appreciation for
her brave and steadfast efforts in this country's behalf; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Private Granados as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
