R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The people of South Texas have a long and proud tradition of service in the armed forces of the United States, and Private Eric Granados has sustained that tradition through his valiant efforts in the Iraqi campaign; and WHEREAS, Private Granados, 21, graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School and has been in the army for approximately six months; the son of Mary Granados and stepson of Miguel Rangel, he is a member of the Fourth Infantry; and WHEREAS, On April 10, 2003, citizens of the Delta area gathered at the city hall in Elsa to pay tribute to Private Granados and other courageous service members from the surrounding communities; and WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Peña has justly recognized Private Granados in the Texas House of Representatives, for citizens across the country owe this resolute American and his fellow servicemen an immeasurable debt of gratitude for the burdens and sacrifice they have assumed, and for their unwavering dedication to those rights and ideals that have made this nation, for so many around the world, the promised land; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby honor Private Eric Granados for his service in the Iraqi war and extend to him profound appreciation for his brave and steadfast efforts in this country's behalf; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Private Granados as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
