R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Christopher "Chip" Haass was recently elected to the
San Antonio City Council to represent the constituents of District
10, and his many outstanding contributions to the Bexar County
community are indeed deserving of special commendation; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan, at the age of 25, is
the youngest council member elected in recent San Antonio history,
and his achievement is all the more remarkable because he had never
before run for public office; Councilman Haass was raised in the
neighborhood he now represents and was educated at St. Mary's Hall,
having shown early promise for his chosen vocation when he joined
the debate team; a talented teacher at an Alamo City high school, he
is a role model and an inspiration for every young Texan who seeks
to transform the world through politics and community activism; and
WHEREAS, In taking on the challenges of municipal public
service, Councilman Haass has joined the proud tradition of citizen
leadership that has been our nation's hallmark for more than two
centuries, and he can take justifiable pride in the role he is
playing in this noble legacy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Christopher "Chip" Haass on his
election to the District 10 seat on the San Antonio City Council and
extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in his
future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Councilman Haass as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
