                                                                  H.R. No. 1992



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The McGregor Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture has 
duly recognized one of its distinguished citizens by naming Kevin 
Huffman Farmer of the Year; and
	WHEREAS, A fourth generation McGregor area farmer, Mr. 
Huffman graduated from McGregor High School, where he showed great 
promise as a farmer; while in high school, he received the 
prestigious American Farmer Degree, the highest award for an FFA 
member; and
	WHEREAS, After earning a degree in mechanized agriculture 
from Tarleton State University, Mr. Huffman returned to McGregor 
and worked on his farm; he leased land and developed his operation 
significantly; it now includes more than 2,000 acres of wheat, 
corn, and cotton, as well as livestock; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Huffman has shared his expertise with others in 
the agricultural industry; a director for the McLennan County Farm 
Bureau, he currently chairs the Texas Farm Bureau Young Farmer and 
Rancher Committee; and
	WHEREAS, Named Texas Farm Bureau Outstanding Farmer and 
Rancher for 2000, he was a top-10 finalist for the American Farm 
Bureau's Achievement Award; in 2002, the Soil and Water 
Conservation Districts of Texas selected him as Resident 
Conservation Farmer for Region 5; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to his professional success, Mr. Huffman 
has been blessed with a devoted and supporting wife, Sheryl, as well 
as three sons, Heath, Clay, and Reese; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Huffman has demonstrated admirable integrity  
through his dedication and hard work; earning the respect of his 
colleagues in the field of agriculture, he is widely held in high 
esteem for his many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Kevin Huffman on his selection as 
Farmer of the Year by the McGregor Chamber of Commerce and 
Agriculture and extend to him best wishes for continued success; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Huffman as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
