H.R. No. 2021


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The University of Houston Cougars baseball team earned a berth in Super Regional competition for the third time in four years by winning the 2003 NCAA Regional Championship at College Station; and WHEREAS, Facing the monumental task of defeating Texas A&M University twice in the same day on the Aggies' home field, the Cougars refused to be denied, winning the first game of the day 7-6 and taking the thrilling nightcap in 10 innings by the same score to claim the regional crown; and WHEREAS, Several Cougars earned individual recognition for their performances as members of the NCAA Regional at College Station All-Tournament Team, including Michael Bourn, Ryan Wagner, Hyung Cho, and Cole Bruce, who was also chosen as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player; and WHEREAS, These superb student-athletes are a source of tremendous pride to all those associated with the University of Houston, and it is indeed appropriate that they be honored on this significant accomplishment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the University of Houston baseball team on winning the 2003 NCAA Regional Championship at College Station and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success at the Super Regional at Reckling Park; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team members and coaching staff as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
