S.B. No. 40
AN ACT
relating to an immunization education program established by the
Texas Department of Health.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 161, Health and Safety
Code, is amended by adding Section 161.010 to read as follows:
Sec. 161.010. IMMUNIZATION EDUCATION; STATEWIDE COALITION.
(a) The department shall establish a continuous statewide
education program to educate the public about the importance of
immunizing children and the risks and contraindications of an
immunization.
(b) The department shall increase coordination among public
and private local, regional, and statewide entities that have an
interest in immunizations.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
