A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the challenge of a voter's registration.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 16.0921, Election Code, is amended by
amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as
follows:
(a) Except as provided by Subsection (c), on [On] the filing
of a sworn statement under Section 16.092 alleging a ground based on
residence, the registrar shall promptly deliver to the voter whose
registration is challenged a confirmation notice in accordance with
Section 15.051.
(c) The registrar may not deliver a confirmation notice
resulting from a sworn statement filed after the 75th day before the
date of an election until after the date of election.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003, and
applies only to an election ordered on or after that date.
