S.B. No. 253
AN ACT
relating to the applicability of the Texas Youth Camp Safety and
Health Act to facilities or programs operated by or on the campus of
an institution of higher education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 141, Health and Safety Code, is amended
by adding Section 141.0021 to read as follows:
Sec. 141.0021. EXEMPTION. This chapter does not apply to a
facility or program operated by or on the campus of an institution
of higher education or a private or independent institution of
higher education as those terms are defined by Section 61.003,
Education Code, that is regularly inspected by one or more local
governmental entities for compliance with health and safety
standards.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
