A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the study of educational opportunities for emergency
services personnel.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Health and the
telecommunications infrastructure fund board, shall study ways to
make educational opportunities more available to emergency medical
services personnel, focusing specifically on rural areas where
training and formal education are difficult to obtain for emergency
medical services personnel.
(b) Not later than January 15, 2005, the Texas Higher
Education Coordinating Board, the Texas Department of Health, and
the telecommunications infrastructure fund board shall submit to
the legislature a written report containing the findings of the
study and the recommendations of the department and the boards.
(c) This section expires September 1, 2005.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
