A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the operation of public schools on Memorial Day.                  
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 25.081, Education Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
	(c)  A school district must provide for district schools to 
be closed each year on Memorial Day.
	SECTION 2.  This Act applies beginning with the 2004-2005 
school year.       
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
