A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to supplemental pay for certain Department of Public
Safety officers who hold a degree or have obtained an equivalent
number of credits hours in higher education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The section heading to Section 411.016,
Government Code, is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 411.016. SUPPLEMENTAL PAY FOR OVERTIME WORK OR WORK ON
FEDERALLY FUNDED PROJECTS.
SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 411.0161 to read as follows:
Sec. 411.0161. SUPPLEMENTAL PAY FOR HIGHER EDUCATION. The
department may pay a supplement of $100 per month to an officer
commissioned by the department who holds a degree, or has obtained a
number of credit hours equivalent to a degree, from an accredited
four-year college or university.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
