A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT


relating to designation of defense economic readjustment zones and 
defense readjustment projects.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subsection (b), Section 2310.110, Government 
Code, is amended to read as follows:
	(b)  The amended boundary:                                                     
		(1)  must be continuous;                                                      
		(2)  may not exceed the original size requirement of 
Section 2310.101; and  
		(3)  may not exclude any qualified business designated 
as a defense readjustment project [area originally] included within 
the boundary of the zone as designated.
	SECTION 2.  Section 2310.306, Government Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
	(d)  The department may designate the same qualified 
business in a readjustment zone as more than one defense 
readjustment project.
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
