S.B. No. 1155




AN ACT

relating to the purchase of certain wireless communication devices 
by state agencies.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 2157.005, Government Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
	(d)  This section does not apply to the purchase of a 
wireless communication device to be used by peace officers, 
firefighters, and other emergency response personnel to respond to 
a public safety emergency.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
