S.B. No. 1237




AN ACT

relating to license fees for certain nursing and convalescent 
homes.        
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 242.095, Health and Safety Code, is 
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
	(d)  If the department appoints a trustee under this 
subchapter for a veterans home as defined by Section 164.002, 
Natural Resources Code, the Veterans' Land Board is responsible for 
the trustee's fee under this section.
	SECTION 2.  Section 242.097, Health and Safety Code, is 
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
	(d)  This section does not apply to a veterans home as 
defined by Section 164.002, Natural Resources Code.
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
