A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the training required for a person appointed as a county 
jailer.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 1701.310, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding subsection (f) to read as follows:
	(f)  In addition to the preparatory training program 
required by subsection (a) the commission shall require that a 
person appointed as a county jailer in a county with a population of 
500,000 or more complete 160 hours of commission approved training 
during the 24-month period after the date the person was appointed.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect Sept. 1, 2003.
