A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to service of process of a sports and community venue district located in a populous county. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Chapter 335, Local Government Code, is hereby amended by adding a new Section 335.005, as follows: Sec. 335.005. SUITS; SERVICE OF PROCESS. A district, through its board, may sue and be sued in any court of this state in the name of the district. Service of process on a district may be had by serving either the current Chairman of the board or the current Chief Executive Officer of the district. SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the crowded condition of the calendars of both houses create an emergency and an imperative public necessity that the constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
