A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to school district purchasing contracts.                             
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 44.031, Education Code, is amended by 
amending subsection (5) as follows:
		(5)  an interlocal contract which uses competitive 
bidding practices and follows open meetings and open records 
requirements as prescribed by Chapters 551 and 552 of the 
Government Code;
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
