A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to payment to certain law enforcement support 
organizations as a condition of community supervision.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Art. 42.12, Section 11, Code of Criminal 
Procedure, is amended by adding subsection (i) as follows:
	(i)  A judge who grants community supervision to a person may 
require the person to make one payment in an amount not to exceed 
$100.00 to a non-profit organization that provides financial 
assistance to dependents of certified peace officers and 
firefighters who are killed in the line of duty and that serves the 
county in which the court is located.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
