S.C.R. No. 57 




SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Amarillo in mourning the tragic loss of Stanley Allen Wiley, who died January 29, 2003, at the age of 38; and WHEREAS, Stanley Wiley was born in Amarillo on March 9, 1964; he graduated from Tascosa High School in 1982 and attended Amarillo College for two years; and WHEREAS, Known as a hardworking man throughout his life, Stanley was employed at a number of local businesses, and for a while, he operated his own sales and publishing company; and WHEREAS, In 1994, Stanley took a position as a corrections officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; he was promoted twice and had most recently worked as a supervisor of the boot shop at the Clements Unit in Amarillo; and WHEREAS, Stanley took pride in his work and believed in treating the inmates fairly; he had earned the respect of his colleagues who remember him fondly as a man who always had something good to say; and WHEREAS, Stanley was a caring and attentive son, and he took time to check on his grandmother on a daily basis; he was also a loving uncle to his three nieces and two nephews; and WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Stanley leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Stanley Allen Wiley: his father, Herman Wiley; his sisters, Margaret Robertson and Catherine Nall; his grandmother, Laverne Powers; his nieces, Melinda Robertson, Shannon Robertson, and Rachel Nall; and his nephews, David Nall and Michael Nall; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Legislature, and that when the legislature adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stanley Allen Wiley.
