SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
	WHEREAS, The family and friends of Susan Wilkes of Lubbock 
sustained a tragic loss with the untimely passing of this beloved 
woman on March 4, 2002, at the age of 47; and
	WHEREAS, Born in Odessa on October 4, 1954, Mrs. Wilkes moved 
to Lubbock in 1959; she graduated from Monterey High School and 
earned a degree from Texas Tech University; and
	WHEREAS, Susan Wilkes was the devoted wife of Morris Wilkes, 
whom she married on March 13, 1976, and the loving mother of two 
children, Laura and Cliff; and
	WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith and a valued congregant of 
First Assembly of God Church, Mrs. Wilkes taught preschool at All 
Saints Episcopal School and at Trinity Christian School; she was 
also a proud member of the Texas Tech Alumni Association and Kappa 
Kappa Gamma sorority; and
	WHEREAS, Together with her husband, Mrs. Wilkes was active in 
politics for many years; Morris Wilkes formerly worked on the staff 
of State Senator John Montford and also served as a senior advance 
representative for Governor George W. Bush; he continues to work 
with President Bush and is in charge of making all the arrangements 
whenever the president visits his Crawford ranch; and
	WHEREAS, Although Susan Wilkes completed her journey on this 
earth far too soon, those who treasured this warm and caring woman 
are deeply thankful for the immeasurable blessing of her presence 
among them, and the love they shared with her will forever light 
their lives; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the 78th Legislature of the State of Texas 
hereby pay special tribute to the life of Susan Wilkes and extend 
sincere sympathy to the members of her family:  to her husband, 
Morris Wilkes; to her children, Laura and Cliff; to her mother, 
Lucille Andrews; to her brothers, Rusty, Randy, and Dwight Andrews; 
and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of 
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of 
Susan Wilkes.
