A JOINT RESOLUTION
proposing a constitutional amendment to repeal the constitutional provision that prohibits state employees, and other employees who are compensated with state money, from receiving a salary for serving on the governing body of a city, town, or district. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 40(b), Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is repealed. SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2003. The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the proposition: "The constitutional amendment to repeal the constitutional provision that prohibits state employees, and other employees who are compensated with state money, from receiving a salary for serving on the governing body of a city, town, or district."
