SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services as it 
celebrates its 60th anniversary; and
	WHEREAS, Established in 1943 by Houston's Jewish 
community, the facility has served the needs of the elderly under 
the mission of "Honor thy Father and thy Mother"; it represents 
the best of the Jewish community's commitment to bring comfort 
and dignity to its elders; and
	WHEREAS, Numerous activities are planned during the 60th 
anniversary year to celebrate the facility's accomplishments of 
the past and to make plans for future endeavors for improving 
services to residents; and
	WHEREAS, The celebration will begin with the center's 
February 4, 2003, 60th annual meeting, when past presidents of 
Seven Acres Senior Care Services will be honored; plans for the 
new Jewish Assisted Living facility on the site will be 
introduced on this occasion; in addition, plans to unveil the 
Campus Redevelopment Project will be discussed; and
	WHEREAS, A gala on March 8, 2003, will mark the 60th 
Anniversary Diamond Celebration; the annual Lou Lewis Symposium 
in Gerontology and the eighth annual Spirit of Life Award 
Luncheon will both incorporate the anniversary theme into their 
programs; in addition, a number of other events involving the 
residents, volunteers, and staff will be scheduled throughout 
the year in honor of the organization's anniversary; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to all 
associated with Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services on 
reaching this milestone and extend to them best wishes for future 
success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
the center's residents, staff, volunteers, and board as an 
expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
