SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40

	WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is pleased to recognize 
Melissa Markel for achieving the Girl Scout Gold Award; this 
fine young woman was presented the coveted award by the Houston 
Girl Scout Council; and

	WHEREAS, Few receive this distinguished award, the highest 
level of achievement in the Girl Scout program; and

	WHEREAS, Through the process of earning the Gold Award, 
girls develop a lifelong commitment to community service and 
gain skills that will contribute to their future success; and

	WHEREAS, For her service project Melissa collected 
thousands of sample-sized toiletries from the community, which 
were distributed through the Wesley Community Center; and

	WHEREAS, In receiving the Gold Award, Melissa has brought 
great honor to herself, her family, her council, her community, 
and her state, and she is truly worthy of legislative recognition; 
now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas hereby 
commend Melissa Markel on receiving this prestigious award and 
congratulate her on her outstanding achievement; and, be it 
further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
Melissa Markel as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
