SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the 
citizens of Houston in congratulating David Markel of Boy Scout 
Troop 211, who recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; and
	WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has brought honor to 
himself, his family, his troop, his community, and his state in 
earning the coveted Eagle Badge; and
	WHEREAS, This personable young man displayed leadership 
through planning, developing, and conducting a service project 
that benefited the City of Houston; he constructed and installed 
six benches for the Settegast Health Center, the Acres Home 
Health Center, and the Martin Luther King Health Center; he is 
truly a shining example to his fellow Scouts and the young people 
of Texas; and
	WHEREAS, Few are privileged to be named among the ranks of 
the elite corps of Eagle Scouts; only two out of every 100 Boy 
Scouts earn this distinguished honor; and
	WHEREAS, Following the principles of the Scout oath and 
promise, David advanced from Tenderfoot, Second, First, Star, 
and Life classes to Eagle Scout; he is truly an exemplary citizen 
of the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, hereby congratulate David Markel on attaining 
the rank of Eagle Scout and commend him on this great achievement; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
Eagle Scout Markel as an expression of esteem from the 
Texas Senate.
