SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 65

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Dr. Dale Wood, the 2003 Arthur O'Krent Humanitarian 
Award honoree of Boysville; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Dale Wood, a native of Chicago, Illinois, 
graduated from DePauw University in 1965 and received a medical 
degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School 
in Dallas in 1969; he completed an internship and residency at 
Brooke General Hospital at the Fort Sam Houston Army Base and a 
fellowship at the National Jewish Hospital for Allergy and 
Immunology in Denver, Colorado; he established the Southwest 
Asthma and Allergy Clinic in San Antonio in 1978; and
	WHEREAS, In 1970, while at the Fort Sam Houston Army Base, 
Dr. Wood cofounded the Child Abuse Council for Abused and 
Neglected Children, and he has continued to serve the needs of 
the children of San Antonio since that time; and
	WHEREAS, Active in many professional organizations,
Dr. Wood is a member of the Bexar County Medical Society, the 
Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and 
the Joint Council of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Wood has received numerous awards for his 
civic contributions to his community; he has been presented the 
G. Gordon Beck Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award from the 
American Lung Association, the Bexar County Medical Society's 
Foundation award, and the Boysville Guardian Angel award; and
	WHEREAS, Colleagues and friends are honoring Dr. Wood for 
his generosity and his dedication to children's causes at the 
Arthur O'Krent Humanitarian Award Dinner at the Westin Riverwalk 
Hotel on January 29, 2003; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Dale Wood for his invaluable 
contributions to the City of San Antonio and its children; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
