SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 76
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen for his outstanding leadership and service to his community; and WHEREAS, Allen Owen has been a resident of Missouri City for 20 years; he served as a planning and zoning commissioner for five years and as a city councilman for eight years; he also served as mayor pro tem before his election as the city's mayor in 1994; and WHEREAS, He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and attended Southern Methodist University School of Finance and Banking; and WHEREAS, Mayor Owen has served as the market area manager for Wells Fargo Bank of Texas and is a highly respected community leader and volunteer who generously devotes his time and energy to civic affairs; and WHEREAS, He is well known for his superior work as a director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and of the Texas 4-H Foundation, as chairman of the Marketing and Distributive Education Foundation, and as vice chairman of the Fort Bend Community Justice Council; he has served as a volunteer for United Way and the March of Dimes; and WHEREAS, Mayor Owen is a devoted family man and a member of First United Methodist Church; he and his wife, Jane, have been married for 31 years; and WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Mayor Owen has distinguished himself in his community and is a source of strength to others, and he deserves recognition for his hard work and his many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend Mayor Allen Owen for his exceptional achievements and his many contributions to Missouri City and the surrounding communities and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mayor Owen as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
