SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 89
	WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Herman and
Alice Ochs placed great faith and trust in the future, and they 
have been amply rewarded, as they are celebrating their 70th 
wedding anniversary; and
	WHEREAS, Herman R. Ochs married Alice May Murdy in
Wichita, Kansas, on March 4, 1933; and
	WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the 
years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Ochs have cherished 
traditional family and moral values; over the years, they have 
grown stronger in their love and devotion as together they have 
experienced the joys and sorrows of everyday living; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Ochs have been blessed with
a wonderful family; their children, Richard Lee Ochs,
Audrey Ann Ochs Powell, and George Henry Ochs, and their eight 
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren have been a source 
of much pride and joy; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Ochs worked as public school teachers 
in Kansas from 1928 to 1941; after moving to Texas in 1942, Herman 
enjoyed a career of 24 years with Southwestern Public Service and 
Alice taught for 25 years in Texas public schools; and
	WHEREAS, Exemplary citizens, Herman and Alice have been 
involved in Rainbow and Demolay organizations, and they served as 
officers in the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star; during their 55 
years in Dumas they were active in the First Methodist Church and 
also volunteered their time to numerous community projects; and

	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Ochs will share their happiness with 
their family and friends at a reception on March 1, 2003, at 
King's Manor; and
	WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Ochs is 
truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to
Mr. and Mrs. Herman R. Ochs on their 70th wedding anniversary; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in 
their lives.
