SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 95
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay tribute to Fred Orr of Dallas on the grand occasion of his 65th birthday; and WHEREAS, The descendant of a pioneering Dallas County family, this distinguished gentleman can lay claim to many accomplishments over the years, including serving four terms in the Texas House of Representatives and one term on the city council; and WHEREAS, Fred Orr graduated from the University of North Texas in 1960 and attended graduate school at Southern Methodist University; he is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and holds a State of Texas lifetime teaching certificate; and WHEREAS, Fred's career has included a number of professional activities; he is a former classroom teacher, chamber of commerce manager, weekly newspaper owner, bank officer, real estate developer, and management consultant; and WHEREAS, He continues to work today as a consultant in management, market research, and governmental relations and participates in numerous civic activities; he was founder of the Texas Cup International Cycling Event, Greater Dallas South, and the Sister City program; he has served as a board member of Cedar Green Living Center, Texas Cultural Alliance, Charlton Methodist Hospital, and Christian Services of Southwest; and WHEREAS, In celebration of Fred's birthday, friends and family will gather at Stoneleigh Hotel in Dallas on February 8, 2003, to share in this important milestone in his life; and WHEREAS, A respected member of his community, Fred can look back with pride on his many achievements and look forward with anticipation to even more opportunities; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby congratulate Fred Orr on the special occasion of his 65th birthday and extend best wishes for the future to this outstanding Dallas citizen; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as a memento of this special day.
