SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 101
In Memory
of
Preston Ervin, Sr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Reverend Dr. Preston Ervin, Sr., who died January 12, 2003; and WHEREAS, The dedication and integrity of this highly esteemed gentleman were an inspiration to all those who knew him and worked with him; and WHEREAS, Preston Ervin was born in Tallulah, Louisiana, on December 29, 1926, and graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School in 1945; and WHEREAS, A compassionate and caring person, Reverend Ervin was a man of spiritual depth and conviction who had a positive influence on the lives of numerous Christians; and WHEREAS, His wise counsel and sound judgment will be deeply missed and remembered with gratitude; and WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, he leaves behind memories that will be treasured by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of Reverend Dr. Preston Ervin, Sr.: his wife, Dr. Doris Everett Ervin; his sons, Warren and Preston, Jr.; and his daughters, Freema and Kathy; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Preston Ervin, Sr. Ellis ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on February 5, 2003, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
