SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 106
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Mary Rebekah Krsnak for earning a Milken Family
Foundation National Educator Award; and
WHEREAS, Mary Krsnak, a teacher at Versia Williams
Elementary School in Fort Worth, is one of 100 exceptional
educators in 46 states and one of two in Texas to be selected
in 2002 to receive this prestigious honor, which includes an
unrestricted financial award of $25,000; and
WHEREAS, The criteria for selection are exceptional
educational talent evidenced by outstanding instructional
practices and accomplishments in the classroom, strong
long-range potential for professional and policy leadership,
and an inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students,
colleagues, and the community; and
WHEREAS, The Milken Educator Awards Program has presented
over $46 million in awards to nearly 2,000 recipients since its
inception in 1985; a total of 16 educators from Texas have
received the award since the state joined the program in 2000;
and
WHEREAS, The 2002 recipients and their spouses will be
flown to Los Angeles for the annual Milken Family Foundation
National Education Conference in April of 2003; for three days
they will have an opportunity to share ideas and concerns
regarding education with other distinguished educators and
business and governmental leaders; and
WHEREAS, As a teacher, Mary Krsnak sets high standards for
her students and provides an environment conducive to learning;
she is well known for her dependability, her professionalism, and
the positive influence she has on the lives of her students and
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Mary Rebekah Krsnak for
her outstanding achievements as an educator and extend
congratulations to her for her selection as a recipient of a
Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
