SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 137
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to have the participants in the Girl Scouts' Legislative Page Program return to the Capitol for a fifth consecutive session, and these dedicated young ladies are most deserving of special recognition; and WHEREAS, This outstanding program began in 1995 in an effort to provide these future Texas leaders with the opportunity for a firsthand experience with the legislative process; and WHEREAS, This year, girls from Midland, Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Pleasanton, The Colony, Odessa, Missouri City, Sealy, and the Panhandle are taking part in this unique week-long event; and WHEREAS, Endeavoring to understand the democratic system of government on which this country was built is a truly worthwhile undertaking; the Girl Scout organization and the young ladies who participate in the Legislative Page Program are indeed commendable, and their contributions to their communities and their state are much appreciated; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby honor all those associated with the Girl Scouts' Legislative Page Program and extend to them best wishes for a memorable event.
