SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 141
In Memory
of
Frank Manuppelli
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Frank Manuppelli,
who died January 8, 2003, at the age of 78; and
WHEREAS, Frank Manuppelli was born in San Antonio on
February 24, 1924; he studied at Hampden-Sydney College in
Virginia and at The University of Texas at Austin, and he
received his law degree from Saint Mary's University School of
Law in 1950; and
WHEREAS, Frank was appointed a special agent with the
Federal Bureau of Investigation; he was assigned to the bureau's
headquarters in Washington, D.C., and also worked in the field
offices in Newark, New Jersey, and in New York City; and
WHEREAS, In 1953 Mr. Manuppelli returned to San Antonio and
became the director of personnel for the city; a year later he was
named general manager of HemisFair and was promoted to executive
vice president after two years; and
WHEREAS, Frank Manuppelli also served as executive vice
president of Ray Ellison Industries, one of San Antonio's largest
homebuilders, and as director of the Southwestern Bell Dominion
tournament; and
WHEREAS, A well-known community leader, Frank was involved
in many civic associations and boards; notably, he served as
chairman of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, as chairman of
the development board of Incarnate Word College, and as chairman
of the Fire and Police Civil Service Commission for 22 years; and
WHEREAS, Frank was a devoted husband, father, and
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Frank Manuppelli: his wife, Lauretta; his
son, Jeffrey, and his wife, Sara; his daughter, Laura, and her
husband, James; his grandchildren, Isabella and Jake; his
brothers, Daniel and Mike; his sisters-in-law, Kelly Manuppelli
and Elinor Buschell; and his other beloved relatives; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Frank Manuppelli.
