SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 144
In Memory
of
Bobby Feemster
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Port Arthur in mourning the loss of Bobby Feemster,
who died January 31, 2003, at the age of 66; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Feemster was a native and lifelong resident
of Port Arthur; he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School
and Lamar College and served his country as a member of the
United States Army for three years; he enjoyed a loving marriage
with Jo Nell Feemster; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Feemster worked for 26 years in banking and
real estate development; in 1987, he joined the Port Arthur
Housing Authority and was promoted to the position of executive
director in 1996; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, he was respected for his
many accomplishments and for his outstanding leadership in the
community; he was a director of the Texas Chapter of the National
Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and a member
of the Port Arthur Planning and Zoning Commission; and
WHEREAS, Bobby was elected to the board of the Port Arthur
Independent School District in 1999 and reelected in 2002; he
will long be remembered for his many contributions to the
district and to the City of Port Arthur; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Bobby gave unselfishly of his time to others and to his
community, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not
be forgotten by those who knew him; and
WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Bobby Feemster was a member of
Saint James Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Bobby was a devoted husband, father, and
grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Bobby Feemster: his wife, Jo Nell Feemster;
his son, Mark David Feemster; his brothers, Bill W. Feemster,
Tommy Feemster, and Ray Feemster; his sisters, Phyllis Sandefur,
Sheryl Hebert, Sandy LaGrone, and Debbie Tompkins; and his
grandchild; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Bobby Feemster.
