SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 146
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize February 12, 2003, as Young Men's Christian Association of San Antonio Day at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, With more than 2,400 facilities, the Young Men's Christian Association is the largest nonprofit community service organization in the nation, and its dedicated staff and volunteers work hard to meet the health and social service needs of 17.5 million men, women, and children, including four million people in the Lone Star State alone; and WHEREAS, Each Young Men's Christian Association location is specifically designed to address the needs of the community it serves; the Young Men's Christian Association of San Antonio offers invaluable services that nurture children, support families, and strengthen communities; and WHEREAS, The chief volunteer officers and chief executive officers of the Young Men's Christian Association of San Antonio have devoted countless hours to their work, and they have chosen to visit the State Capitol on this day to share their stories and concerns with members of the Texas Legislature; and WHEREAS, For many years, Texans have reaped the benefits of the myriad services and programs offered by the many branches of the Young Men's Christian Association, and it is indeed appropriate to pay tribute to the Young Men's Christian Association of San Antonio on this special day; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend the Young Men's Christian Association of San Antonio on its invaluable contributions to the community and to our state; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of Young Men's Christian Association of San Antonio Day.
