SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 192
In Memory
of
Anthony L. Badrak, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of San Antonio and Runge in mourning the loss of Anthony L. Badrak, Jr., who died February 5, 2003, at the age of 54; and WHEREAS, Tony Badrak was born on September 22, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Anthony and Anna Badrak; he earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Saint Mary's University in San Antonio; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Anthony served as a band and music teacher for a number of San Antonio schools, including Rodgers Middle School, Saint Gerard High School, John F. Kennedy High School, and Marion High School; most recently, he was a teacher at Runge High School of the Runge Independent School District; throughout his career, he was dedicated to his work, and he touched the lives of hundreds of young people by sharing with them his love of life and his passion for music; and WHEREAS, Tony was a highly talented musician and played both the flute and the saxophone in a number of bands over the years; he was the leader of two bands, Tears of Joy and Blue Norther, and in 1999, the Current 12th Annual Music Awards recognized him as the Best Horn Player in San Antonio; and WHEREAS, Tony was respected for his many accomplishments and was beloved by his family, friends, colleagues, and students; and WHEREAS, He was a man of integrity, strength, and generosity who gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Tony was a member of Travis Park United Methodist Church, where he was actively involved in music ministry; and WHEREAS, Tony Badrak lived his life to the fullest and was a devoted son, father, brother, and uncle, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Anthony L. Badrak, Jr.: his parents, Anthony and Anna Badrak; his brothers and sisters, Edward, Margaret, Veronica, Francis, and James; and his four children, Sean, Antoinette, Lauren, and James; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anthony L.
