SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 197
WHEREAS, The Canton High School Band has distinguished itself in two major competitions, and these outstanding performances have brought acclaim to the school and its community; and WHEREAS, Winners of the 2002-2003 University Interscholastic League State Marching Championship in the 3A division and named 2002-2003 State Honor Band by the Texas Music Educators Association, the Canton High School Band is the first ensemble in the state to win both competitions in one year; and WHEREAS, The talented members of the Canton High School Band have been ably guided in their efforts by the leadership of director Rob Toups, and their commitment to excellence is a source of inspiration to the student body and faculty of the school as well as to the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Canton High School Band and director Rob Toups for their outstanding success and wish them continued good fortune in all future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. Toups and the Canton High School Band as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
