SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 203
In Memory
of
Ezequiel Ramirez Guerrero
WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of San Antonio
in mourning the loss of "Don" Ezequiel Ramirez Guerrero, who died
February 4, 2003, at the age of 70; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez was born April 12, 1932, in San Jose
Del Resplandor, Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico; and
WHEREAS, He learned from his father how to buy and sell
cattle and worked as a cattle broker for many years during his
youth; he later worked in the construction business in
Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and in San Antonio; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ramirez returned to his true calling in the
cattle and beef business in 1980, when he established the
Culebra Meat Market in San Antonio; the business was known for
specializing in traditional Mexican cuts of beef and pork; over
the years, the meat market expanded to 13 locations in the city,
and he became one of San Antonio's leading small businessmen; and
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Mr. Ramirez gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his
wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those
who knew him; and
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Ezequiel Ramirez Guerrero: his wife of 50
years, Sara Ramirez Rivera; his daughters, Francisca Izaguirre,
Juana Carrizales, and Blasa Aguilar; his sons, Manuel, Jose Luz,
Jaime, Humberto, Raul, Juan, Noe, Victor, and Ezequiel Ramirez;
and his 52 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Ezequiel Ramirez Guerrero.
