SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 235

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Poncho Roberts, who has been selected for the Citizen 
of the Year Award by The Huntsville Item; and

	WHEREAS, A dedicated and active volunteer, Poncho is
well known for his outstanding work with the Huntsville Memorial 
Hospital, where he has contributed over 1,000 hours of his time; 
he also serves on a number of boards and works with such 
organizations as the Huntsville Rotary Club and Sam Houston's 
Raven's Rangers; he is a volunteer for the H.E.A.R.T.S. Veteran 
Museum and Old Town Theatre; and

	WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader who 
generously devotes time and energy to civic affairs, Poncho has 
been recognized with such honors as the Meritorious Service Award 
from the Board of Trustees of the Huntsville Independent School 
District and the Warm Welcome Award from the Chamber of Commerce; 
in 1994, he was recognized by the Modern Woodmen of America for 
his community service; and

	WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Poncho 
has played a major role in the betterment of Huntsville and 
Walker County, and his accomplishments reflect his dedication 
and his commitment to his fellowman; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby commend Poncho Roberts on his 
exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to him
on his selection as the Citizen of the Year; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
