SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 246
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the citizens of Round Rock in celebrating Daffodil Days on March 1, 2003; and WHEREAS, Eight years ago, the Round Rock Senior Citizens Foundation began hosting the Daffodil Days event to encourage the beautification of the city with these attractive flowers and to raise funds to renovate a building for use as a senior center; and WHEREAS, Today, approximately 30,000 bulbs are purchased, and citizens are encouraged to plant them as part of their business and home beautification plans; and WHEREAS, To celebrate the coming of spring and blooming of the flowers, the Daffodil Days festival is held each year on the first Saturday of March; family entertainment is provided, and food and arts and crafts booths are set-up; and WHEREAS, The festivals help to support the many causes and programs of the senior population in the city; and WHEREAS, The eighth annual Daffodil Days celebration provides an opportunity for the friends and families of Round Rock to gather and celebrate the beauty of this spring flower and to benefit the area's senior citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, hereby recognize March 1, 2003, as Daffodil Days in Round Rock and extend best wishes to the participants for a joyful and successful event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the residents of Round Rock as a memento of this occasion.
