SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 251
In Memory
of
Dorothy Jean Johnson Guillory
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Dorothy Jean Johnson Guillory, who
recently died; and
WHEREAS, Dorothy Jean Johnson was born March 19, 1922, in
Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Homer and Josephine Johnson; she attended
Kemp High School in Bryan, Texas, and Franklin Beauty School; she
enjoyed a long marriage to Raymond Guillory, and the couple was
blessed with six children; and
WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she was a member of the Fourth
Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan and Mount Moriah Baptist
Church in Houston; and
WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
Dorothy gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom,
warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who
knew her; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Guillory was a devoted wife, mother, and
grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be
treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
bereaved family of Dorothy Jean Johnson Guillory: her sons,
Homer, Jeffrey, and Leslie, and their wives, Brenda, Consuelo,
and Santina; her daughter, Beverly Lewis, and her husband,
Freddie; her daughter, Bridgette Guillory, and her husband,
Frank; and her 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Dorothy Jean Johnson Guillory.
